The Conflict Within

One of the things that Lura would do with this blog from time to time is post videos, music and otherwise, that expressed some aspect of Christian life. I’m continuing that tradition with this video that I ran across on YouTube that I’m certain she would have loved.

A lightsaber battle that takes place within the soul of a young man who must choose between his Godly nature and his sinful nature.

In addition to taking a look at an ancient conflict in light of a modern popular science fiction story and special effects, it also won second place in the “lightsaber Choreography Competition 4″ on “theforce.net” fan films forum.

For the best effect, I recommend watching this in full screen mode.

Romans 7:19-20, “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”

Prayer Request: URGENT

Ξ October 26th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Prayer Requests, Video |

At this hour, a man is laying in the hospital. The medical staff say he has only minutes to live. This needs immediate prayer. You have seen his name here before. It’s Jess. Some things were done wrong during his illness. And in honor of Jess, no matter how this night ends, here is that video that touches my heart. This is most appropriate right now.

Father, I ask You to lay Your healing hand upon Jess right now. If You are calling him home, then please help him to be able to go peacefully. If You will heal him, let everyone know that it is only through You that he can be so healed. Lord, I am asking that those around him be at peace. This man has served you. He is your servant. Please give him peace regardless of what happens this night.

Thank You, Lord! We praise and honor You in all things. In the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.

God Is In Control!

Ξ October 11th, 2008 | → Comments Off | ∇ End Times, Video |

Yesterday, I talked about the Fear Factor in this country. Sometimes we simply do not remember who is in charge of the whole creation. God was and is the Creator of all things. At times, it feels like He is not available for comment, doesn’t it. He is not asleep or on vacation! There is something else we need to remember when the fear tries to take over like it is in the secular world. Jesus took care of it all on the cross. ALL of the problems, diseases, financial woes, everything was taken care of on the cross. Many people in this world do not believe that fact. But it is the truth. Those who know this, sometimes also forget that He is alive! He is our Savior. We owe Him everything!

There are times when all of this fear hanging around takes away the joy of the Lord. When that happens, I find some good music that will bring back my feelings of joy and well being even in these times of financial problems. This particular song that I picked out for just such a time as this, is called Then Came The Morning by Ernie Haase and The Signature Sound. They are quite good. I first heard them with the Gaither Vocal Band and then on a DVD that Gaither puts out. I just love the way they sing these beautiful songs. This one will remind you of the day of Jesus coming out of the tomb. Awesome! Here is Then Came The Morning.

It has occurred to me that some may be somewhat disappointed that I did not put a devotional or lesson here but, instead, let a video do the work. Perhaps if you look at the video and listen to the words that God brought to my mind, you will see what the lesson really is for today. I did. Thank You, LORD!!!

As always, if you happen to have a favorite that you would like to see on here, please email me or put it into the comments below. It has been an awesome day! Despite the financial problems in the world and country, exciting things are happening. We are coming to the end of the age. While there will be some things I would rather not go through, God is in control. He is there for us. All we need to do is call on His name and He will be there! Seek God while He may be found.

Still Asking The Question: Are We In The Last Days?

Ξ September 8th, 2008 | → Comments Off | ∇ End Times, Video |

Again, I do not know for certain but what is certain is that there are things going on right now that have never happened before or have not been as intense and important at this time. I find it interesting that despite what people say about these times, there are still doubters. Of course, it’s possible that we as Christians see things much differently than others do since we have the ability to get information from our Father. Make no mistake, He is in control regardless of what it may look like at any given moment.

A few days ago, I wrote a post about this very subject and included some things that pointed to the likelyhood of it being in or close to the last days of the age. And again, this would not be the last days on earth since there is to be a one thousand year reign of Jesus Christ when He comes back as He soon will.

However, there are some who do not see this as we do. Well, I found a video that simply points out a few things, some like I was saying in the other post. But there are scriptures that show what is coming. Here for you now is “End Times: Wake Up, America” from Godtube.

If you have any comments or questions concerning any of what is depicted in the video, please put them in the comments section. It is moderated but I will answer the questions that I can. If I have no idea, I will state that too. Some things are not known by us at this time. God was clear in that not even Jesus knew the day and the hour but the season only. That is all we can know but we can know that.

Seek the Lord while He may be found (Isa. 55:6) Not always will the Lord be available and found. After that time, those that have not sought Him will not be part of the Lord’s family. Simple.

No Kidding: Christians Have A Sense Of Humor!

Ξ August 26th, 2008 | → Comments Off | ∇ Christian comedians, Christian humor, Video |

There are times when I get the idea that people have decided that Christians have no sense of humor whatsoever. We are all Bible reading, thumping, preaching machines that have to get out the word or else. While a bit of that may be true (though not that extreme), we do have that illusive something called a sense of humor. It is true that some never show theirs. I know that. I have run into some people who would not crack a smile if their lives depended on it. Every thing is so serious. Why is that?

See, I know that God made us in His image. He said so in Genesis (Look it up. Isn’t it time you dusted off the old Book and checked it out?). And many of us do have a sense of humor. There is no way that the enemy came up with that one. That guy never did an original thing in his existence. So, if that’s true, and it is, then God has given us this amazing sense of humor. Why, then, are all those people running around acting like we shouldn’t crack a smile if something is funny? I dunno. All I do know is that I have a sense of humor and I know how to use it! Having said that, I must show you this really funny video I just found. It cracked me up!

This really funny comedian has a song called “Mamma, The Cat Ate The Gaithers”. The man’s name is Aaron Wilburn. I had never heard of him before but I am certainly going to be looking up more of his comedy as of today. Here he is singing that funny song.

Did you enjoy this? Let me know.

Just Say It With Music

Ξ August 25th, 2008 | → Comments Off | ∇ Music, Video |

Sometimes, when I have some heavy problems, I love to sit and just listen to music. I love that I can get on this computer, get online and find some inspiring music that will change my attitude and just make things better. Lately, I have been dealing with some health problems that have all but consumed my time and thoughts. That just should not be the case, especially with a Christian. But we are definitely human, proving that just about hourly in my case. I need to have something to help me make it through the time of worry and concern. That something is a Someone. Jesus does it all! He has taken care of me during this whole thing. But the best part of it is that He is so interested in a phases of my life that when I have such concerns, He wants me to listen to inspirational music because it soothes my nerves and takes away the problem from my focus.

These videos that I love to watch have the type of music that just takes every care and puts it to the side. I love music and especially inspiring music that tells of the Lord and what He does and has done for us. From the oldest gospel tunes to some of the more modern sounds, I love the inspirational stories that are told in the music. I know that I cannot put all the wonderful music that I listened to last night on here but I can select one that moves me and that gives me hope through the Lord.

This is an old song but very relevant today as well. Here is the song “Oh, What A Savior” ably sung by Ernie Haase and The Signature Sound. Listen to the words, really listen. Enjoy!

Please let me know how this and other songs or posts affect you. And if you have a special song you like and would like to see here, just email me and let me know. I will try to get it for you. God bless you richly!

The Lord’s Prayer

Ξ August 24th, 2008 | → 4 Comments | ∇ Prayer, Video |

Do you say the Lord’s Prayer at all? Do you go to church and say it there because everyone does it? When, if ever, do you say it? I admit that I do not say the Lord’s Prayer at all often though I should. Jesus was teaching us how to pray when He said those words. He was teaching us the meaning of prayer and how important it truly is for us to do it daily. How awesome our Lord is to give us the way to get to Him so easily. All you have to do is call on Him and He is right there for you. How can it get any better than that?

Today, I was looking at a couple of funny videos when I noticed in the list one called The Prayer! Anything that talks about prayer gets my attention because of how easy it is to do that. When I watched it, immediately I thought about how we say the Lord’s Prayer and what it means to us. Usually, the person saying it is simply reciting what they learned as a child, right? I know that I have done just that myself. Most people who go to church, when the prayer is recited, they do not think about what it actually means. They simply say it. Do you get much out of doing that? Not really.

So, what does the Lord’s Prayer actually mean? I could give you a lesson right here about it and I might just do that in another post but I wanted you to see what I did in the video that someone put up about the Lord’s Prayer. Click on the link, watch it and come back here. When you finish the video, it is a bit long, think about what you just saw. Take the time to break the prayer down and think about each part of it. What does it mean? What does it mean for you? Does God actually answer you when you pray like that?

I am curious as to what this means to you. If you will, please comment on this video and what you have learned that you did not know before. I just want to see if you saw what I did. Thank you and God bless you richly.

One Step To Understanding Salvation

Ξ July 11th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Growing In The Lord, New Christians, Video |

Several months ago, I found GodTube. This place is awesome. There are so many good videos that it would be impossible to tell you about all of them. But there was this one video that I ran across during my first trip to GodTube that I posted on this blog some months ago because of how much it moved me. But, with all the newer posts, this one has more or less been buried. I cannot help but believe that if people would see this video they would see Salvation in a different light.

Most videos I watch are nice, good, hilarious or whatever else. They do not move me to tears but this one does. It is an awesome portrayal of what Jesus has done and will do for you if only you will accept Him for Who He is. Please take the time to watch this video..even if you have already seen it before. It moves me in ways I have not been moved before. Each time I watch it, it’s like I had never seen it prior to this time. It is a bit long but it is well worth the time. Enjoy the Lord!

If you have any prayer requests or praise reports, please click on the link in the sidebar. Thank you for visiting today. God bless you richly!

We Are In God’s Hand

Ξ July 6th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Music, Video |

Sometimes, it’s pretty tough believing that we are in the hand of God, isn’t it? With all the junk going on in the world right now, there are times when I have thought that I haven’t heard from God and that I had gone off the path. And that was true at times. But there were other times when God was right there, I wasn’t off the path a bit and He was guiding me just as He said He would.

Kris Kristofferson wrote a beautiful song called “Why Me, Lord?” that says everything I always wanted to ask the Lord. Why me? What have I ever done to deserve even one of the blessings from You? God says that we are given a gift of eternal life. It wasn’t earned. It is not deserved. But He loves us so much that He gave it to us but it was paid with a price. Jesus went to the cross to give His life for ours. That answers the question. But the song also asks what I can do to give back to the Lord. And that is what we need to find out today. What can I do to give back to You, Lord? Show me the way.

Bob Cain has gone to be with the Lord but his legacy of songs are still here. Bob Cain singing “Why Me, Lord?” as only Bob Cain can:

Amazing Grace: The Way It Began

Ξ June 27th, 2008 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Music, Video |

Most of us have heard the song “Amazing Grace” sung somewhere, many in our churches. However, do you know the history of it? No? The author of the lyrics is a man named John Newton. Before he became a Christian, he was the captain of a slave ship. He had heard many old Negro spirituals sung below decks. The author of the music is unknown but John heard from the Lord to give us this awesome and amazing song that has lasted through the ages.

I had seen this some time ago but it was brought to my attention again today. I just had to post it. Here to give you a small history lesson and to sing the song from only the black keys of the piano like most Negro spirituals are done is Wintley Phipps. I do hope you enjoy this as much as I have:

This music gives me God’s goosebumps. I love it so much!
