Welcome back!
I wanted to pass on some prayer requests from another blog called Grumpy Ape. Please click on the name to get to them. Praying for others is vital to the walk of a Christian. It is the spiritual lifeblood for us. When we pray for others, the kingdom of God is working as it should.
We all need prayer from time to time, some more than others. Some folks who come to a place of asking Jesus into their hearts seemingly have so many ills and problems that they bend God’s ear daily. Others apparently have seen the “light” and do not need to pray at all. All is well with the world. Right. There are folks who simply will not bother God with the trivial, some don’t think they are worthy of going to God for anything. What’s wrong with this picture?
First and foremost, the Father is not a sugar daddy who can and will hand out the wishes and wants like Santa Claus. God’s will is the one that will be done, not ours. Many, sometimes I think the word should be most, Christians new and older tend to feel that God is there to beg, plead, cajole, bribe and scream at to get what they want regardless of the cost to themselves or others. So many times, people want to do their praying from a desperation stance. And that is not the way God wants us to live at all.
Second, while we should not be praying from a point of desperation, sometimes it is essential to do so. Some things simply are desperate. Do not hesitate to go to the Lord with your petition. However, He is not moved by tears and begging. Most of us have to remember that one. During a time of pain and pressure, either your own or someone’s that you love, that might be all you can do. Instead of simply begging God, take the time to thank Him for all He has done for you. Give Him your heart. Put yourself in His Hand like no other time. God will honor that. Do nothing from a selfish or self centered point. He honors that which comes from the heart, the true compassionate giver.
Prayer is for a time to be with the Father, enjoying each other and having a friendship and fellowship unlike any other. But it is also time to talk about the needs of others, to petition for things that God is very willing to do for those people. It is not for selfish gain. God does not really honor that. So, do I not ever pray for myself? Of course you can. God wishes for you to have the desires of your heart. The one tiny thing about that is that when you become a Christian, read your Bible and sit with the Lord to learn, something changes inside you. Something rearranges and slowly your ideas of what you need and want tend to change, to become more like the Lord. When that happens, you look back on what you wanted before and realize that those were usually selfish and self centered things you wanted. God is looking out for you and for your family and friends. But He is not going to hand you everything you want just because you want it. Sometimes the tough road must be taken. That is a hard lesson indeed.
Praying for others is a step in the direction that God wants you to take. It is a totally unselfish act as long as you don’t have ulterior motives in doing so. If the prayer is for that person alone, this pleases God. So, please click on the link to Grumpy Ape and pray for those you do not know who need these prayers so much. Believe me, it brightens my day to know that I have a hand in helping someone who needs the help. They won’t even know who prayed for them. Isn’t that wonderful?
My ex-husband died this morning. From friends, I am assured that he was a Christian for which I am truly thankful. However, my daughter, who lives in the same area that he did, is having to deal with this pretty much on her own. I am unable to be with her for this. Holly, the mother of his second daughter, is not going to be a whole lot of help, if the past is anything to go by. She is, herself, very much upset and having difficulty dealing with this. I should say here that this was not unexpected. He had throat cancer. However, it was not expected for him to go this quickly. They had just given him 6 months but that he could change that to years if he would do certain things. This comes at a time when my daughter was having other problems too.
Please pray for her. She is a strong person but says she is losing it today. And it is likely that she will have to make the decisions concerning everything. Please help her to get through this and to be able to deal with her other problems like with her car.
Father, I just ask you to take care of my daughter, to give her the strength to get through this definitely difficult time, to give her peace concerning it all and to be able to deal with the morass of things that always pop up unexpectedly in such situations. I pray that Holly will be able to be helpful in all this so that my daughter does not have to shoulder this all by herself. Please help her, Holly and Amber to make it through with no negative things happening. Give that little girl the knowledge that though her earthly father is no longer with her, that You are her Father as well. Help her to make it through these troubling times.
We love You, Lord. You are in control here.We praise You for all the blessings You give. We thank You that through this many people will see Your hand involved. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus! Amen.
The one thing I have noticed over the last year or so is that there are always more prayers than praise but perhaps that would be because we focus on the prayer needs and not so much on what God does about it. For me, sometimes I have not spent the time I needed to in thanking God for the thing He has done about the problem. We should be putting up more praise than prayer requests not because there is less need but because we have noticed all the answers to prayers that God has given us. Nevertheless, prayer is needed so here are today’s prayer requests and praise reportL
First the praise:
Jess, who was on the prayer list a while back, is doing better in that he has been moved to a facility which is closer to family and friends. There is much that is very private but this man who is dying has been through a lot of difficult times recently at the previous hospital. Now, because he is close to family and friends, they are able to help in a way they could not before his move.
Now for the prayer requests:
Jess still needs prayer concerning his whole situation. He is a terminal cancer patient who is recovering from other medical problems as well. His non-medical problems still must be dealt with as well. Some way needs to be found to do this.
Marisa needs prayer for a court battle concerning the visitation rights for a child. So far, it has all gone toward the other parent. Her son is battling to see his child at all. The mother has been granted custody and discretion concerning his visitation. She refused that. They are now back in court fighting to get joint custody and/or longer visitations. Yesterday, the lawyer for them did not show. The other lawyer “helped” with allowing a few hour visit a couple of days a week. Obviously, Dad does not think that’s enough. The lawyers are meeting today to try and work out a better arrangement.
Kendyll needs prayer. She is a very young child in the middle of a family dispute.
Nancy needs prayer. She has been through a major disaster in her life with injuries. She needs uplifting and peace about many things.
David needs prayer so that he will come to the Lord. Currently, he looks for underhanded ways to solve problems. He needs his heart changed the only way that it can be, through God’s love and grace.
Nancy needs prayer for health issues. She has COPD and is having trouble breathing though she is on medications for it. She uses oxygen while lying down but no other time. She needs to be free of this disabling disease.
Jennifer needs prayer due to a blockage in her kidneys. She is the loving mother of 3 children and has a wonderful husband who is by her side through all this. Please pray for the doctors to see the reason for the blockage and for it to be gone!
All those who are currently in hospice care so that they can know the Lord if they do not, get help with their care, have God touch them in a way that they will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was the Lord.
Father, we lay before you these people who are having so much trouble and pain in their lives. We pray that they are blessed beyond measure by You and with Your healing hands upon them, they shall surely know that it was You that touched their lives! We thank You, Lord!! You are awesome! In the mightly name of Jesus, our Savior! Amen.
There is a special circumstance for this first prayer request that needs attention. The others are not less special, just ongoing. So, here are the prayer requests with some extra information for the first.
My sis and brother in Texas have a friend, James Moore aka Jess Two Moons, who is more or less stuck in a vet hospital in Dallas. The doctors are calling him terminal. His health problems include blood clots, cancer and congestive heart failure. There is a great deal of concern on his part that he is not getting straight answers at that facility to his questions about his health. In addition and certainly putting more stress on him is distrust of the man he is renting from in his home town. He is worried that the man is ripping him off.
My sis and brother know that the man has claimed Jess’ van and pets telling them that he was given the van by Jess. He also has changed his story on these things several times so it is certain that he is taking Jess’ property and pets. Jess has no idea where he stands concerning his health, whether he can get home again or not. But what is certain is that the landlord has no claim to these items and pets. Please pray for not only Jess to heal physically and emotionally but that the landlord be stopped from all this as well.
Additional prayer request:
David–for salvation
Nancy D–returning to the Lord
Pat–healing
Harold–healing
Nancy T–healing
Gene–terminal..healing
Debbie—cancer…healing
Vicki—healing and protection
Donna–stage 4 cancer…healing
These people all need your prayers right now!!
Father, I ask that You come into the situation concerning the landlord and Jess. Father, Jess is Your servant who is struggling to get answers and resolve problems right now. He is needing Your healing touch so badly. And Father, all the people on this list are needing Your healing touch today. Some cannot breathe well. Others are dying and need Your support in this stress filled time. Still others have aches and pains all over their bodies. All need You desperately!
Lord, thank You for Your answers. Thank You that You are here for us and that You are our salvation! Lord, I ask that those who do not know You be given the knowledge of You, draw them closer to You. We do thank You, Lord, for all the blessings that are ours because of Your grace and mercy! Thank You!!!! Words are not enough to thank You for all You have done for us. We love You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Once again, here are the prayer requests for this week so far. Please pray for these people who are hurting from different things but are all needing blessings.

2) Audrey and Mike–suffering after effects of Hurricane Ike.
3) Nancy–suffering from COPD and financial.

Father, we offer You praise and thanksgiving for Your grace and mercy. We love You, Lord! We thank You for Your healing of all things….spiritual healing for those who are in desperate need, emotional healing from many problems and stresses, Your peace that passes all understanding which heals, physical healing for the many who are in dire need, financial healing. We thank You that You hear our prayers, that You have shown us that You still heal by having healed those who ask or are asked about. We thank You so much for all answers! In the name of Jesus, we pray! Amen and amen.
Do you say the Lord’s Prayer at all? Do you go to church and say it there because everyone does it? When, if ever, do you say it? I admit that I do not say the Lord’s Prayer at all often though I should. Jesus was teaching us how to pray when He said those words. He was teaching us the meaning of prayer and how important it truly is for us to do it daily. How awesome our Lord is to give us the way to get to Him so easily. All you have to do is call on Him and He is right there for you. How can it get any better than that?
Today, I was looking at a couple of funny videos when I noticed in the list one called The Prayer! Anything that talks about prayer gets my attention because of how easy it is to do that. When I watched it, immediately I thought about how we say the Lord’s Prayer and what it means to us. Usually, the person saying it is simply reciting what they learned as a child, right? I know that I have done just that myself. Most people who go to church, when the prayer is recited, they do not think about what it actually means. They simply say it. Do you get much out of doing that? Not really.
So, what does the Lord’s Prayer actually mean? I could give you a lesson right here about it and I might just do that in another post but I wanted you to see what I did in the video that someone put up about the Lord’s Prayer. Click on the link, watch it and come back here. When you finish the video, it is a bit long, think about what you just saw. Take the time to break the prayer down and think about each part of it. What does it mean? What does it mean for you? Does God actually answer you when you pray like that?
I am curious as to what this means to you. If you will, please comment on this video and what you have learned that you did not know before. I just want to see if you saw what I did. Thank you and God bless you richly.
So many times in my life, I reached out to God and it seemed that He did not listen to me. Must have been playing golf or something. My prayers went to the ceiling and no farther since I knew that if I were to pray, they had to go all the way to heaven, wherever that is. It must be terribly far away. I simply did not have his phone number memorized. That was how I felt.
So many days of me talking, so many days He said nothing. The silence was overwhelming me. And I felt so miserable because I just knew that, of all His children, I must have been the one that got away, was shunned. Apparently, I had asked too much. It could not be accomplished. Unworthy.
The truth, however, is so much better. The Father has us in the palm of His hand. He is watching us all the time, hoping that we will talk with Him. Notice I said WITH Him, not at Him, not necessarily to Him. With Him. He wants us to have a relationship, a fellowship with Him. When you have a friend, a really good friend or family member that you love dearly, you will talk with them in person and on the phone, email, whatever medium you find. God is right where you think He is, with you. It does not take a prayer to rise to the ceiling, just talk to Him. He is here. Seek Him and He will answer.
He told us to seek His kingdom first (Mathew 6:33 -But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.) instead of always wanting, wanting, wanting. It took me a long time to learn this. Sometimes, I feel that I have not yet done so. There are times when the prayer does not seem to go anywhere. But you know what I did when I felt that? Praise! Thanksgiving! I thanked the Lord for all He has done. I praised Him.
Do you understand that we do not have to see the end result before we can thank Him for what He does? Recently, I was pleading for something very dear to me. It did not seem as though God heard me. Then, I realized that my prayer was one of doubt and unbelief. If I truly believed God’s Word then I must apply it to my situation. Put my faith on the line. I did so thanking my Lord for that thing as if it were accomplished. I could see the end result before it occurred.
First, take the time to get to know your Father. He wants to tell you many things. However, if you are only wishing to talk, you cannot listen. If things get in the way, thoughts that are negative to the situation, you cannot hear. Put all that worldly stuff out of your mind and just get into the refuge of the Lord, the secret place of the Most High.
(Psa 91:1-2) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Jehovah, my refuge and my fortress; my God; in Him I will trust.
Because you can trust in the Father, you will find that He is willing to talk with you, guide you and strengthen you. When you dwell with the Lord, your faith will grow. In time, you find that hearing the Lord becomes easier and easier since you are willing to rest in Him, allow His course for your life instead of your own. And that is how the joy of the Lord will come to you!!! What a blessing!!!
It is really necessary for us to find the time to pray for others. God tells us that the prayer of a righteous man avails much. Now, most people do not think of themselves as righteous. In fact they want to run from such titles. But as a born again Christian, you are that righteous person who can and should pray for others as they have prayed for you. God asks us to pray for those in need. At this time, these are the needs of others who want prayer:
1) Helen Stone- who is having brain surgery in the morning. Please pray for her full recovery and continuing health. Please also pray for her family as they go through this with her.
2) A woman who has been told by her doctor that she must now go into an assisted living facility. She has been on her own for a very long time.
3) Fred-who is suffering with cancer and is terminal. Please pray for his recovery and for his family, for his two daughters, one who is having to deal with his needs as they come up. The other is very young and will have trouble understanding the situation.
4) ADDING A NEW REQUEST: Debra-who has had news from the doctor that there are more problems since her surgery a while back.
5) ADDING ANOTHER NEW REQUEST: Nancy-an abnormal pap smear. Will have biopsy next week.
Father, we pray for each and every one of these pleas for Your help in healing. Please touch each of these folks in their hour of need. Give Your healing to them and please make it in a way that there is no doubt whatsoever that You are in charge. Thank You, my Lord! We pray this in the name of Jesus! Amen.
The newest prayer and praise are as follows:
Praise!
Tom-out of the hospital feeling much better. Coming to light, a possible reason for almost all of the health problems to date that must be looked into.
Prayer requests:
1) Charley-who is in the hospital. Please pray for him with multiple problems. He is overweight and a normally easy procedure could be life threatening to him is needed. Please pray!!
2) Continuing prayer for Donna with cancer of vocal cords and lungs. Coming home from hospital soon.
3) Fred-continuing prayer for him. He appears to be giving up, falling back on old ways, has diagnosis that says he has no hope of recovery though the doctor would not show up to tell him that. He is very functional and about to be released to his home when one can be found. Please pray for him to be healed and his spirit hear God’s Word on the subject. Please also pray for him to have a home to go to instead of needing a nursing home.
4) A family who appears to be constantly attacked with health and financial problems, one after another with little relief.
5) A newborn who has an infection. Please pray for her!
Father, we pray for these health needs for your children. We know that You said that “by His stripes we are healed” and “with His stripes we were healed”. We agree with that for all of these folks and others that we are also praying for but not listed here. Jesus, we love You and thank You for being our Savior and Lord. We thank You for dying on the cross for us so that we do not have to have these problems! We thank You, Lord! In Jesus’ Name, Amen
I have some prayer requests for this week:
1) Donna-cancer on vocal cords and both lungs. Please pray for divine healing!!
2) Fred-cancer of the throat. Told he is terminal and they cannot do anything about it. Please pray that a second opinion gives a different answer and that there is healing.
3) Tom-healing for stomach, arthritis, kidneys, parathyroid problems.
Thank You, Lord, that we can call on You anytime for our requests to You. Father, I pray for these folks to receive their healing from You. We know that You are in charge and that they do not have to accept such reports. We are in agreement that they are healed!! Thank You, Lord!! In the name of Jesus! Amen!
