No Kidding: Christians Have A Sense Of Humor!

There are times when I get the idea that people have decided that Christians have no sense of humor whatsoever. We are all Bible reading, thumping, preaching machines that have to get out the word or else. While a bit of that may be true (though not that extreme), we do have that illusive something called a sense of humor. It is true that some never show theirs. I know that. I have run into some people who would not crack a smile if their lives depended on it. Every thing is so serious. Why is that?

See, I know that God made us in His image. He said so in Genesis (Look it up. Isn’t it time you dusted off the old Book and checked it out?). And many of us do have a sense of humor. There is no way that the enemy came up with that one. That guy never did an original thing in his existence. So, if that’s true, and it is, then God has given us this amazing sense of humor. Why, then, are all those people running around acting like we shouldn’t crack a smile if something is funny? I dunno. All I do know is that I have a sense of humor and I know how to use it! Having said that, I must show you this really funny video I just found. It cracked me up!

This really funny comedian has a song called “Mamma, The Cat Ate The Gaithers”. The man’s name is Aaron Wilburn. I had never heard of him before but I am certainly going to be looking up more of his comedy as of today. Here he is singing that funny song.

Just Say It With Music

Ξ August 25th, 2008 | → Comments Off | ∇ Music, Video |

Sometimes, when I have some heavy problems, I love to sit and just listen to music. I love that I can get on this computer, get online and find some inspiring music that will change my attitude and just make things better. Lately, I have been dealing with some health problems that have all but consumed my time and thoughts. That just should not be the case, especially with a Christian. But we are definitely human, proving that just about hourly in my case. I need to have something to help me make it through the time of worry and concern. That something is a Someone. Jesus does it all! He has taken care of me during this whole thing. But the best part of it is that He is so interested in a phases of my life that when I have such concerns, He wants me to listen to inspirational music because it soothes my nerves and takes away the problem from my focus.

These videos that I love to watch have the type of music that just takes every care and puts it to the side. I love music and especially inspiring music that tells of the Lord and what He does and has done for us. From the oldest gospel tunes to some of the more modern sounds, I love the inspirational stories that are told in the music. I know that I cannot put all the wonderful music that I listened to last night on here but I can select one that moves me and that gives me hope through the Lord.

This is an old song but very relevant today as well. Here is the song “Oh, What A Savior” ably sung by Ernie Haase and The Signature Sound. Listen to the words, really listen. Enjoy!

Please let me know how this and other songs or posts affect you. And if you have a special song you like and would like to see here, just email me and let me know. I will try to get it for you. God bless you richly!

The Lord’s Prayer

Ξ August 24th, 2008 | → 4 Comments | ∇ Prayer, Video |

Do you say the Lord’s Prayer at all? Do you go to church and say it there because everyone does it? When, if ever, do you say it? I admit that I do not say the Lord’s Prayer at all often though I should. Jesus was teaching us how to pray when He said those words. He was teaching us the meaning of prayer and how important it truly is for us to do it daily. How awesome our Lord is to give us the way to get to Him so easily. All you have to do is call on Him and He is right there for you. How can it get any better than that?

Today, I was looking at a couple of funny videos when I noticed in the list one called The Prayer! Anything that talks about prayer gets my attention because of how easy it is to do that. When I watched it, immediately I thought about how we say the Lord’s Prayer and what it means to us. Usually, the person saying it is simply reciting what they learned as a child, right? I know that I have done just that myself. Most people who go to church, when the prayer is recited, they do not think about what it actually means. They simply say it. Do you get much out of doing that? Not really.

So, what does the Lord’s Prayer actually mean? I could give you a lesson right here about it and I might just do that in another post but I wanted you to see what I did in the video that someone put up about the Lord’s Prayer. Click on the link, watch it and come back here. When you finish the video, it is a bit long, think about what you just saw. Take the time to break the prayer down and think about each part of it. What does it mean? What does it mean for you? Does God actually answer you when you pray like that?

I am curious as to what this means to you. If you will, please comment on this video and what you have learned that you did not know before. I just want to see if you saw what I did. Thank you and God bless you richly.

Prayer Requests

Ξ August 21st, 2008 | → Comments Off | ∇ Family, Prayer Requests |

I know. It has been a long time. I will tell you quickly that I have been in the hospital two times starting the first of August. Just got out the second go round on Monday. I am blessed to be back and writing here again. On to the prayer requests.

1) Vickie–in stage three cancer of the breasts. She can have an operation to remove both breasts but the doc only gives her a 50/50 shot of surviving the operation.

2) Donna–stage four cancer of the throat and lungs. She is terminal. Was offered chemo to give her a couple of extra months but she declined and will live out her life without that. She is a believer ready to go home. However, her husband is angry at God for other problems associated with dishonorable so-called Christians. He is now even angrier because of his wife.

3) Carol–who will need housing soon. She is unable to live by herself since her social security is not great. Please pray that she is able to have that housing.

4) Sonny–who will be undergoing chemo next month.

5) Harold–has pain in his shoulder but is reluctant to get an operation on it. Please pray for the pain to leave him so that he does not have to have that operation.

6) A family–they have little income but need a water pump for their car. Please pray for that to be fixed in a timely and inexpensive fashion.

7) A couple–who need to learn how to be married, to get jobs and begin their lives together. If God did not put them together, then God…please work this out. The man is probably not a believer. His wife is but is leaving it behind just to be with him.

8 ) Nancy–who has COPD.The weather is making it quite difficult for her. Please lay Your healing hand upon her so that she will no longer have this dreadful disease.

Father, we come to you with many prayer requests, some not mentioned here. We ask that You touch each and every person and family who is needing Your help tonight. We plead the blood of Jesus over each person and family that needs You tonight and through the day tomorrow. Lord, there are so many who have health problems, so many dealing with life threatening diseases and conditions. Please help each and every person who needs You this moment.

Lord, I ask You to touch those who do not believe in You so that they can see who You really are.Thank You, Lord, for each and every day we are alive and breathing. We are so thankful to You for blessings upon blessings. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
