Do We Need To Accept Everything That Happens?

Have you ever noticed that we tend to accept things as they are especially if we’re used to it? You know, things like health conditions, financial problems, family difficulties? We accept it because someone has told us that it’s that way, period. For instance, we got a phone bill that was not what was supposed to happen when we upgraded a service. Our bill should have gone up by $15 and a charge for some shipping which amounts to about $15. In fact, it was over $50 higher than it should have been beyond that. I called to inquire about it and a young lady told me that it was accurate and that’s what I had to pay. Period. End of story.
Now, a few years ago, I would have hated it but accepted that she was right. After all, she’s looking right at the bill on the computer. It’s right. It would have been awful trying to pay that bill, a major struggle. That was then. This time I insisted that the bill was wrong, I was NOT going to pay that and if she could not help then I needed to talk to a supervisor right away. I was pleasant and firm. She put me on hold for about 5 min. When she came back the bill had dropped over $50. Why? Because I did not accept the status quo.
Often, we accept it when health problems and financial problems come on instead of taking a stand. If we are going to live by what the Bible tells us, then we must begin to believe what it says instead of what we see. Weird concept but very necessary. “Believing is seeing” may make no logical sense in this world yet that is exactly what God wants us to do. We need to trust God to take care of us instead of us dealing with our problems ourselves.
(1Pe 2:24) He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that dying to sins, we might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.
So, instead of accepting the health problems, we need to take a stand, say that this is enough!! This should not be happening! God said “by his stripes you were healed”! That’s past tense. It’s now up to us to believe, receive and live it as though it had already happened. Just because we see it does not mean that it’s true. When we are willing to accept ONLY God’s best are we living as God intended. Now, do not get me wrong. Bad things will still happen. But if we will only accept God’s best and nothing short of that will do, then that brings trust in God. When we trust Him for everything, we are living the life God intended for us.
What a blessing that is!!!
